I ask myself, "should I keep doing trip reports here, even if I'm not skiing?" I see no reason not too, as long as I'm reporting on climbing/hiking/biking sort of activities.

I figure if it's out in the mountains it's worth sharing some info on... maybe stoking other folks out to get out too.

Today, burned out on skiing, we decided to have a look at one of my favorite local crags, the Shield. It's ~25 miles SE of town in the Gros Ventre where less snow generally falls than here in the Tetons. I speculated that we'd be able to take advantage of the warmth and get some climbing done.

~65F and very sunny down there... approach was a little muddy though almost free of snow but for small pockets in shady nooks. Rock was bone dry, since it's summit projects from the mountainside and minimal snow accumulates atop it.

A perfect day of sport and trad climbing... could've been shirtless if not for fear of sunburn from some INTENSE rays. Strange days for mid-March.
