We skied less than ten miles north of town on east facing bowls between 7500/9000 feet. No cracking or whoomps, stability seems to be better than normal this time of the year. The snow had a little bit of a dense layer on top in places making skiing inconsistent but still good with dry lite powder. There has been a lot of wind lately so there are some sketchy wind loaded ridge lines at the top of east and north facing areas. The top layer or snow almost everywhere was covered in pretty thick surface hoar crystals, almost an inch thick in places. It made skiing fast but could cause problems once buried.
