Here's a few shots of what can happen on New Zealand's South Island with an open itinerary and some adventerous motivation. Enjoy!
A view of some of the amazing terrain accessible from the Broken River Ski Club. A must visit for any skier venturing to the South Island.
If you happen to have a few bucks to splurge, and want to ski endless laps of fresh snow, Southern Lakes Heli Ski (http://www.southernlakesheliski.co.nz) are the people to call. Super friendly Kiwis that will get you out for as little as two, or as many as 10 laps in a day.
World class limestone, in a world class setting. Castle Hill is also super close to the many Club Fields of Arthur's Pass, and under two hours from the ocean.
Easily one of the most beautiful places I've ever had the fortune to paddle out in. Lord of the Rings Mountains hang overhead while a point break reminiscent of Malibu fires perfect right hand peelers. They're fifteen minutes from the Christchurch airport, and right next to a decent break.

A typical tramping trail in a not so typical hiking country. There's literally thousands of trails to choose from in the South Island. Many trails offer rainforest hikes through some of the most celebrated wilderness trails in the world. This shot is of the Routeburn Track which is highly regarded as one of the country's "Great Walks".

Skiing in New Zealand marked a major goal for me to ski on all 7 of the world's continents. This was our first day of skiing in Australasia, and what a powder day it was!
Lots of wonderful wine to drink in New Zealand. If you're lucky, you might even catch a rainbow in between sips.

Are Kiwi ladies attracted to USA-ers? That's a place where I could handle a little citizenship.

We were down there a couple of weeks. I think you can stay for three months with a tourist visa (better check that out for sure). I would also say Kiwi ladies are rad, but since I was traveling with my lady I didn't veneture into that territory. An amazing country for sure though, so many fun things to do and good people.
