THE GOOD
*Lightweight - At 13.2oz, these check in at nearly a full pound less than many of the harshell pants on the market, so don't worry about supersizing your next meal.

*Waterproof - The DWR coating seemed to work very well. I took these out during a moderately heavy snowstorm at Snowbird, UT, and stayed dry all day.

*Packable - Compresses to a bit over a quart.

*Warm - The Trinities were warmer than I was expecting. They were comfortable on a twenty degree day with a mid-weight base layer; although I would probably choose a heavier layer when temps dip into the single digits and below.

*Fit - The Trinities are to true to size and comfortable. The fit is pretty well a midpoint between athletic and baggy. I am a 5'10", 175# male and the large fits me well, with adequate room for layering. The four way stretch fabric is a good insurance policy for the occasional accidental splits maneuver. I wouldn't recommend them for your next yoga class, but the pants should allow plenty of range of motion for your average backcountry skiing or alpine climbing adventure.

THE BAD
*Durability - Although the seat, knees, and ankles are reinforced, the fabric in the reinforced areas was much lighter than I would be comfortable with for everyday use.

*Features - These are about as stripped down as they come. A side zip for ventilation on longer climbs would be a good addition. A pocket or two would also be helpful, as would an internal gaiter.

*Colors - The Trinities are available in any color you want, as long as it is black.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The GoLite Badlands Trinity is an extremely light, minimalist shell that is comfortable and affords excellent range motion with four way stretch construction. These would be a good choice for ski mountaineering races, light and fast alpine climbing, or those suffering from gear-anorexia.
