THE GOODStylish, well designed, comfortable. This pack is designed to fit a woman's smaller frame, but still will hold the essentials. Details like a fleece-lined goggle pocket and insulated hydro-sleeve continue to make Dakine packs a favorite among winter lovers. The sleek design allows you to ride the lift without hanging on for dear life [if you don't get reprimanded by the liftie]... This pack also is nice because it comes equipped with both ski and snowboard carry systems. If you've got a snowboard, you can even choose between a cross or a vertical carry!
THE BADThis pack is limited only by it's size and it's weight. Although some people might prefer a small pack for in bounds and sidecountry skiing, 1000 cubic inches is just barely enough to hold essential avalanche gear and a light layer. In fact, most shovels will have to go in the primary compartment because they are too large for the shovel pocket. Similarly, on a longer trek it would be preferable to have a pack with a better weight/capacity ratio.
Also one problem i find with the diagonal ski carry is that the top strap is just barely long enough to fit wider skis. Usually if I have a full pack I have to really force the strap shut. A couple extra inches on the strap would be a huge improvement.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOWThe Dakine Heli Pro Pack rocks as a basic ski pack for resort and sidecountry skiing. It also is great for summer hiking and biking!
