What's Your Favorite Slackcountry Resort? | UNITED STATES, WYOMING | 03/25/2010, by Editors
As editors of SkiingtheBackcountry.com, we've had the privilege of traveling full time over the past few winters. It's been an incredible opportunity to visit almost every ski town in the west and ski almost every resort!
This Spring, we'll be putting together an overview of all the places we've been, including "Best of" and "Top 10" lists. And although I'm generally not known for lacking opinions, we really need your input in order to provide the best consensus.
So, here's a chance to share your thoughts on the Top 10 Slackcountry Ski Resorts (on the left side of North America)! Vote for as many resorts as you like and feel free to comment below. If you don't see your resort, vote for it in the comments section. Poll Closed 5-3-2010.

1. If you had listed it, Badger Pass /Yosemite would win going away!
2. Where would you vote to vote for Hope Valley? It is half way between Kirkwood and Heavenly.

Sure, Jackson and Big Sky are known for their "big" skiing. However, anybody that's explored these along with Whitefish Mtn Resort (AKA Big Mountain) knows Whitefish's slackcountry/backcountry, along with its 3,000 inbound acres, simply cannot be beat for total package.

I haven't skied slack outside of Colo. but Silverton ROCKS 'cause it's ALL slack! I only wish they had more "unguided" days.

Also, Squaw Valley is listed up there and there is pretty much no legal "slackcountry" access from that resort AT ALL

Local feel with more terrain than the big dogs. You can go out four to five days after a storm and still lay down fresh tracks! There is too much terrain for even the locals to plunder it all. That with a 15 dollar cat ride to the next valley! are you kidding me! I think they didn't list Powder Mountain to keep it to themselves.
