Track Your Vert to Raise Money for Charity | 12/21/2010, by Waheenie

Hey all you backcountry skiers.  Big News!

Now, every time you Track Your Vert on the SkiingtheBackcountry.com Powder Journal,  you can help raise money for charity!

December 18 - IN PROGRESS

Second Sponsor is Recon Instruments. If we reach one million vertical feet their $500 donation will go to The Snowrider Foundation. Recon Instruments made its big debut by teaming up with zeal optiocs to create the first GPS enabled goggle. Read more here. The Snowrider foundation is part of The Surfrider foundation. The Snowrider Foundation was created to give snowboarders and skiers a vehicle for environmental activism ,  to bring greater understanding of the hydrological cycle (the foundation for the intimate environmental connection between snow, land and surf) and to foster a sense of stewardship towards alpine and valley watersheds.

October 1st-December 17 2010 - COMPLETED!
Our first Vert Challenge is sponsored by Clip Skins (the new glueless climbing skins) and will go to the American Institute for Avalanche Research & Education (AIARE).  Help us to reach the goal of 1 Million feet (uphill) on the Vert Tracker to "unlock" a $500 donation!   Track your vert every day you ski this year and tell your friends to do the same!
