The great thing about a mythical mountain is making up equally mythical route names! Today my dog got charged by a big old female moose who was cruising around with a juvenile male sporting cute little velvety paddles. That was the highlight of the day, so the new line we scoped out today - which wasn't a very good one - may as well be "COUGAR MOOSE".The new snow came in pretty sticky but slabby thanks to the wind. Setting the skin track, I saw a few disconcerting cracks spread farther than I'd like, especially on E and NE aspects that got windloaded yesterday.
The avalanche event map shows a snowboarder kicked off a pretty big slide on a steep E facing slope of Cody Peak today @ ~10,200 feet.
I'll be babying all aspects at higher elevations, especially the SE, E, and NE aspects that may have seen a little sun before yesterday's storm.
It looks like we've got a little more on the way too. Good: it was getting crusty down low thanks to mist and intermittent sun.
