Great turns on Glory today. It's still skiing VERY FRESH up high and in the shade... but very boney in spots.

There was a big rescue on Glory the other night. A young woman got lost, cliffed out, and had to call in the Cavalry. Well done TCSR!

The situation is a good reminder of some basic backcountry wisdom:

1) It sounds like her partner ditched her. Don't ski too far ahead of your partners, especially if there's any doubt about where you're headed.

2) She said she was in Glory Bowl when actually she was in Little Tucks. Always know the name of the peak and route you're skiing. If the route is unnamed, know what aspect it's on and how to describe it over the phone.

3) Don't ski cliffy or rocky lines when the snowpack is thin.

4)If you get cliffed out near the top of a line, bootpack back up the way you came. This is much preferable to waiting 4-5 hours for someone to save your ass.

5) Don't go where you don't know, especially without a clue.
