Skied one of the massive Eastside giants on the vernal equinox last Saturday. Basin, at 13,240, is a mellow mountain, when compared with other eastside descents, but 100% classic. The couloir skis more like a bowl it's so wide, and the views from the top are absolutely amazing. From here you can easily spot the North couloir of Mt. Humphrey's, the Kindergarten couloir and the Checkered Demon off Peak 13,192, part of the Zebra and North Couloirs of Mt. Emerson, and off course there's many more to drool at.We found everything on our descent: windboard, chalk, frozen crust, and thankfully, perfect corn and perfect pow. It was all there, and it's in great shape for some more tracks right now...
