Warpigsinfin: January 4, 2011 Uphill: 3,800 ft. | Downhill: 3,800 ft.

Spotted a WOLF today about 200 feet below us. He'd already been spooked and took off with impressive speed through DEEP snow. We got to check out his track and it was very impressive. With those long legs he'd stayed close to the top while plowing a good sized trench. It didn't hop like a dog would, but rather loped gracefully low.

COLD in the valley this morning. Inversion in the morning but as the afternoon wore on the clouds moved in and eventually the wind. Up top it was brutally windy. Frostbite style wind.

Saw a couple little crowns where high winds had drifted the cold sugar from the last few storms into impressive drifts. There's a wind slab on sugary snow on many aspects up high that could give us some trouble, especially as more weight accumulates atop it.

Great snow in protected areas. Skied SSE aspect which was great excluding below 7500' where mellow sun crust under a few inches of fresh prevailed where sun had hit.
