By Freedom Rider
THE GOOD
PRACTICALITY: Starting with the stow away helmet holster, detachable rain fly and the 2 side compression strap, this pack was designed for longer distance mountainbike rides in mind while the Airstripes back system helps wick and dry the sweat on your back.
VERSATILITY: Changing from 700cu in. to 850cu in. is as easy as pulling a zipper allowing plenty of storage. The 3L Streamer Reservoir is large enough to keep you hydrated on those especially hot days whether you're hiking, biking, or anywhere in between.
THE BAD
MOVEMENT: Like most packs. The EXP has to be synched tight in order to keep from shifting around on demanding downhills.
COLOR OPTIONS: Although black and grey seems to mach almost anything, it would still be nice to have more than one color option.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Deuter Compact EXP 12 pack is a well-designed pack constructed with nothing but durable lightweight materials. I bought it thinking that I would need to use all 850 cu. in. for long days in the saddle but found that I had plenty of space even when the pack was only set to 700. The helmet holster works well for cruising around before/after your ride and the rain shell keeps your good dry even in the most demanding conditions. A great pack for long days where making sure you have enough space is important.
