Backcountry Skiing Journal From:

Today I went skate skiing on the suncrusted prairie at the base of the Teton Range. My buddy and I were outfitted entirely with gear from the Browse and Buy Thrift Store and it was about as much fun as possible on the flats.

After about a month of melt freeze, the snow is perfectly set up so you stay on top of a smooth and fast but grippy crust. Early to mid-morning is the best time to be out there before it gets soupy.

Bluebird, windless, and cold this morning. Saw lots of wolf tracks and even a few bones left over from a recent feed. Good times and a great way to loosen up after the Rando-Ridiculousness yesterday.
