I didn't get to ski today but am comping myself 100 vert for running up and down the stairs with cases of beer all day... questionably beneficial crosstraining. Though stuck inside, I have from a reliable source...Yesterday was cooler and cloudier than the 13th but unfortunately GTNP snow has suffered the same warmup that the Southern Tetons did. According to my ski buddy anything that got sun had a shitty crust. Even completely shaded aspects offered variable conditions at seeming random... sugary pow one turn and scary crust the next... no bueno.
I'm curious what the skiing is like on the high peaks right now... all that wind and sun could have set up a few things to ski safely and maybe even well. Not that it matters however, vis appears to be nada and it's snowing in the hills right now. Hopefully we get enough to bury that bummer crust.
