Finally got to ski without having to wear a plastic bag. The rain has finally changed to snow. The rim had an inch or so of new snow on top of a firm frozen layer. It was actually really fun, fast skiing, and made getting through the discontinuous sections of the rim a lot of fun. The snowpack in general up at the rim looks to be pretty solid now that the rain has frozen, but wind slabs are always an issue up there and now there is a nice firm layer for the wind slab to slide on. Check out the attached video of some classic wind loading we saw up there today. Also the snowmobile road in is all blue ice for the first 2 miles making it tough on the sleds to get any traction. Anything below 6000 ft has been trashed from the rain.
