Join us for the 2nd San Juan Rando Race. The race course is 85% above treeline and takes participants over a unique alpine route packed with colouirs, steep skin tracks and a long descent off of Spencer Peak.
The course will take between 2-4 hours.

Pre-regstration and Mandatory Gear Check 7:00AM-8:00AM
Mile Marker 65 on Molas Pass
Race Start 8:00AM
Race Cut Off 1:00PM
Pre-race packet pick-up and late registration from 4-7 pm on Friday including an optional pre-race meeting at 6 pm. IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST SKIMO RACE IT IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED THAT YOU ATTEND THE RACE MEETING. This will be held at Pine Needle Mountaineering. The packet will include a course map. Racers will be required to sign a risk waiver prior to the race.
Required gear: skis/skins/backpack/beacon/shovel/probe/helmet/wind layer/extra gloves/balaclava or Buff. Racers are REQUIRED to attach skis to backpack on the designated bootpack climb at the Notch Checkpoint approaching Spencer Peak
Time cut-offs will be enforced and determined the prior to the race.
Equipment: Skiers must use AT / Tele or Splitboards with full metal edges. No "nordic-type" gear of any weight (NNN or similar binding) will be allowed. Ski crampons are not allowed. Bike helmets are ok. Snowclaws are passable for mandatory gear.
The San Juan Rando Race operates under a special event permit granted by the San Juan National Forest.
