Highlights

There is no highlight. This route sucks but it's a good option if you want to bail quickly. If you don't know where you're going, encounter a nasty whiteout, or the avy danger seems too high to ski something else off the summit, heading back down the way you came up is a sensible option.

Ascent

The classic, steep, often windy bootpack straight North from the top of Teton Pass.

Descent

Don't ski right down the bootpack as this could cause an avalanche and bury people hiking up behind you. Skiing to skier's right of the bootpack off the summit is a good idea. This keeps you away from the edge of Glory Bowl, one of the most dangerous slide paths on the mountain. When you get back down to the gigantic metal Radar Reflector, keep keeping to skier's right of the booter to avoid the steep starting zones of Twin Slides. The wind usually causes crazy drifts and utterly barren patches throughout this section. Even mid-winter, you may enounter exposed rocks through this steep section. Once you're back in mellower terrain, head a little left of the bootpack for open meadowy terrain. As you approach the base, stay close to the bootpack to avoid steep roadcut that's usually rocky.

Access/Permits

None. Don't go up there on a high avy danger day and cause a slide that takes out the road.

Headed out just before the sun started to set. Low vis, but not really snowing. Snow was good but thicker and grippier than normal. Still plenty of good snow to be had....[view]

nice four to five inches of light fluff to ski. The vill must be taking their measurements from the deepest wind drift they can find. no signs of avalanches and not much wind. I'm off to canada....[view]
