Highlights

The Claw offers some of the steepest skiing on Teton Pass. There are several chutes to ski, most of them end in thick trees, so exiting can be tricky.

Ascent

From the top of Teton Pass head south on the dirt road(in the summer) that is at the western side of the parking lot. Follow the well established skin track all the way to the top of Mount Elly.

Descent

From the top of Mount Elly(not distinctive) head north and ski any number of options. Be careful as this is prime avalanche terrain and some of the starts are cliffed out. Once your desired chute is skied follow the obvious meadow/drainage until it funnels you to what should be a packed out single track. At the end of the single track you will have to cross two creeks which usually fill in in mid winter. A quick five minute hike will lead you to the groomed track of old pass road. It will lead you to the lower parking lot of old pass road.

Access/Permits

Parking on top of the pass is always an issue. Carpool when you can.

Make sure you know where you are going! It's super easy to get cliffed out (I know from experience).
