Medicine Bow Peak is the highest peak in the Snowy Range at 12,013 ft. Complex avalanche terrain on this mountain can make skiing tricky during the winter months. The couloirs to the south of the peak near the Diamond face and Disaster Wall are more often skied during the spring months. Official names of the couloirs are uncertain and debated, but included are Airline Couloir, First Street, Second Street, Old Main, and School House Couloirs. Drive up the road in late may, park, walk ten minutes, and pick your line. Stay for a while and ski several in a day!
