Highlights

This chute feeds into the NW bowl and is more of a feature than a full route. but, it's a very unique feature that offers the best steeps on the mountain and makes for incredible skiing in good conditions.

Ascent

Bootpack/skin from the Mt. Thielsen trailhead straight up the prominant west ridge. entrance to the chute is from the west side of the ridge and is fairly obvious.

Descent

400 ft or so of steep skiing through the chute. you can choose to continue skiing the northwest bowl, which offers another 1000ft or so of wide open cruising, or regain the ridge and ski the west face straight back to the car.

Access/Permits

forest pass
