SPRING MOUNTAINS | NEVADA | UNITED STATES

Summary | 120 inches a year

The Spring Mountains are located in southern Nevada. Running generally nothwest-southeast along the westside of Las Vegas and down to the border with California. While the bases of these mountains are part of the mojave zone, they are topped by a montane zone. Many species of conifers add to a very diverse sky island ecosystem. Chutes, slide paths, big walls, open trees, obscure rolling knolls, and 300+ days of sun annually make for great touring options.

Snowpack
Although close to the Sierra. The snowpack in the Spring's is mostly like the Intermountain west. It is dry, shallow, sun affected, and cooled by clear winter nights. The range has lots of natural anchors, but plenty of steeps and good pitches. Avalanches due occur here naturally, expect increased activity during moisture rich El Nino years.
