Winter just keeps coming back like an addicted meth rat. Even as I write it is dumping in the low elevation of town. For now I leave you with mediocre ski footage accompanied by some creep show tunage.Got some ski footage of your own?
We are tired of watching ourselves ski worse than we think we are. We want your footage! We want to show what the skiing has been like in your neck of the woods. Send us an email at contact@skiingthebackcountry.com if you have video you would like to share. And we will let you know how to get it to us.
That's Our Opinion. What's Yours?

How about starting a thread discussing the types/models of video cameras people recommend using? The video mode on my digital camera just doesn't quite cut it, and I'm overwhelmed by the options available out there.

We have tried out several different cameras over the past few years. Canon is consistently way better quality than any of the other brands. The video above was shot with a fairly basic Canon powershot A720 IS digital camera (Primarily still but also video) and a Canon FS100 (primarily video but also stills) ... We also have a Go Pro Hero Wide Helmet Cam that is pretty rad. And if we are feeling very enthusiastic, we'll carry our Nikon D70 up the hill for some higher quality stills.

Powderjunky - I'm relatively new to the cascades (having moved to Portland last fall) and have been having trouble finding people to hit the backcountry with. You know of any good resources for finding good, knowledgeable people to get out in the OR backcountry with?

pdx32,
I would check your local mountaineering shops as the few people i know in that area are neither good or knowledgeable :).
I am not too familiar with Northern Oregon BC, but i plan on heading up that way soon to ski helens and adams. Maybe we could meet up?
I know i had trouble when i first came to oregon with locals making the distinction between downhill backcountry and nordic backcountry.
