The idea of stickering is a controversial subject that has many loving stickers, but others hating them. Stickers have become a part of the skiing culture, but it has not come without a fight. The sticker is a prominent tool for advertising in the ski world, and it seems everywhere you go there are stickers representing your favorite brands. But how did those stickers get there? The “art” of placing stickers is a much harder discipline that many imagine. After reading this I hope you guys can see more of the environmental art behind stickers and become better sticker placers yourself.
 

1)    One must understand that sticker sizes will determine where one can place a sticker. When eying a spot to place your sticker one must not pick a sticker to big for the spot. Come into the area with a predetermined sticker to place, this will lessen the chances your going to get caught.
 

2)    My personal style is to have the sticker already partially ready to sticker. In other words, it could be a good idea to take a part or the whole back off the sticker, so it is ready to stick.
 

3)    Now, here is where personal style really emerges. (that’s right, just like skiing itself – sticker placing has style). My favorite style is a walk by - two person sticking. This style involves the first person to come by with the back already off the sticker and slapping it in on your targeted area while just walking by. Then the second person comes by and really seals the deal. The second person walks up gives it a nice firm press, securing its placement for a long long time. Of course, this style doesn’t wok in all places so you will have to adapt to your environment. Another style is just a confident sticker placement. Step up to the plate, take the challenge and just get up to your target area and do it all yourself. Be proud, be quick and then get out of there. Remember, chair lifts, road signs, bathrooms and garbage cans are all great target places, so be sure to hit those areas hard.
 

4)    Finally, don’t flaunt your sticker placement right away- first get out of the danger zone. It is a risky thing placing stickers, so just walk away, and don’t talk about it. Hopefully, if your place a sticker well, it will be there for a long time to talk.
