When you think of professional athletes, rarely do the words "humble", "modest", or "selfless" come to mind.  However, we recently tracked down Kina Pickett, an incredibly talented skier who breaks free from athlete stereotypes and makes it a priority to give back to the world.  You may know him from your favorite TGR movies, but this winter he's been busy helping kiddos in Mexico.

Kina works with a non-profit called Greenscool that "installs renewable energy systems and educates children in impoverished schools around the world." For more info, check out www.greenscool.org.  Enjoy the video!

FYI- if you listen carefully you can hear the "transformer-esque" sounds in the background, don't worry Megatron is not on his way to annihilate the human race, it is just our shotty noise reduction software trying to get rid of the tons of background garble. It is actually quite an improvement from the original!

That's Our Opinion. What's Yours?

Even though I did think Megatron was about to jump through the video, Kina's message came through loud and clear. Taking the steps for 1. Outreach/Education and 2. Action through installation, is a fully worthy endeavor. I hope he and his group continue to thrive! Thanks for sharing.

Glad that the transformer signal wasn't too distracting. It was great to talk with Kina- he was so excited about the Greenscool project.

Definitely sounds like a cool cause and kina sounds like a good dude, nice to see positive press about any kind of athletes!

I agree, ski athletes definitely seem to have that "rock star" image, cool to see Kina doing something that is putting others over self!

That's an interesting combination of philanthropy. Most organizations focus on either the environment or education. I like how they've combined the two!

And the winner of an emergency blanket is... Kristi! Congratulations.
