Without a doubt, "Hot Dog" is the best ski movie ever!

Kristi Trite wrote on 11/12/08 at 3:22:20 pm pst:

I love the goofy movie! Thanks for reminding me about it!

powderjunky wrote on 11/12/08 at 3:44:28 pm pst:

the goofy one is my favorite too!

powderjunky wrote on 11/12/08 at 3:47:09 pm pst:

How come they all have girls in bikinis on the posters? That's s good way to get frostbite!

Jason Hernan wrote on 11/12/08 at 4:38:41 pm pst:

James Bond is the only decent movie on this list.

Verdict Man wrote on 11/13/08 at 07:19:26 am pst:

Dumb and dumber is kindof a random addition to this list... But it's a true classic, and it does take place in Aspen so whatever.

Kris wrote on 11/18/08 at 10:13:48 am pst:

License to Thrill anyone?

Awesome Patrol wrote on 11/19/08 at 9:56:43 pm pst:

License to Thrill is great, but with this list I was going for more of a pop-culture genre. Ski movies with plots...

Trailpatrol wrote on 12/05/08 at 10:30:56 am pst:

You forgot James Bond-"On Her Majesty's Secret Service" with George Lazenby's only Bond appreance, but LOTS of skiing, and "Heroes of Telemark" with Burt Lancaster.

hot chocolate wrote on 12/05/08 at 1:27:23 pm pst:

Thanks Trailpatrol for the great additions to the list! I've never seen "Heroes of Telemark", but a quick wikipedia check makes me want to rent it...

Ski Alabama wrote on 01/16/10 at 5:23:44 pm pst:

What about Copper Mountain? Ha, its probably on the worst ski movie list. Alan Thicke and Jim Carey starred it this pearl of a flick.

I am trying to figure out the name of a ski movie that I watched when I was younger.... I have a feeling this movie came out sometime in the late 80s or early 90s. The only scene I remember is when the resort staff/instructors are talking about doing a very challenging run called Hole in the Wall. They they proceed to "shoot the hole," or go on this run, which is literally a hole they must ski through for a long portion of the run.

This was definitely a ski comedy, but I can't remember any more from the plot other than that.

powderjunky wrote on 02/16/10 at 07:13:31 am pst:

I believe it was ski patrol?

Freeheelgirl wrote on 02/17/10 at 09:13:50 am pst:

Powderjunky, I'm with you about the babes in bikinis ON SKIS on the cover of almost EVERY movie on this list - why not show some dudes in their underwear, while they're at it? :-)

marizanolli wrote on 02/24/10 at 5:47:01 pm pst:

I am trying to find the name of a movie done I think in the 80's about a skier who lost her leg and learned how to paint. It was a real tear jerker and I would like to know the name of it, if anyone can help me. The name of the skier was Joni or Jonni...I can't remember.

Shawn wrote on 12/13/10 at 4:48:44 pm pst:

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Robert Redford's classic, Downhill Racer, yet.

powderjunky wrote on 12/13/10 at 6:34:18 pm pst:

Have to go rent it tonight. Good one!

theAlpingeist wrote on 12/13/10 at 7:39:21 pm pst:

Downhill Racer is a classic, one of my favorites. My mother introduced me to it. I like the stillness of the movie.

Chris wrote on 01/09/11 at 7:33:47 pm pst:

Why include James bond in the list? Besides, there are more cool James bond ski chases as well: on her majesty's secret service has a Nice One, for your eyes only has a biathlon/ski jumping/ downhill combo and the more recent "the world is not enough" also has a cool ski chase. Whenever James bond skis, there will be a chase with guns involved.
