With our vert tracker you can keep a ski journal of your backcountry experiences and see how much uphill and downhill vertical you ski each day, month and year.
Reading other's Trip Reports posted to the Vert Tracker expands your
knowledge about current snow conditions, avalanche dangers, recent
weather, mountains you'd like to explore, and much more. If every
member of Skiing the
Backcountry
carefully shares their daily observations we collectively learn a lot
about which aspects and elevations are skiing best, what dangers are
out there, etc. In addition to local avalanche forecasts,
weather reports, and conversations with friends, the Vert Tracker can help you answer the most important
question in backcountry skiing: what do I want to ski today! Here is how:

How to Upload Your Vert1.
Sign in or
sign up.
2. Once logged in you should see your vert tracker and a big purple button that says, "Add Your Vert". If you don't see this, please email us at contact@skiingthebackcountry.com
3. Click on
Add Your Vert Button.
4. Select a country, state, and a mountain range.
These are mandatory.
5. You can also select a mountain, and route if you wish, but these are optional. If you skied a secret spot and do not want people to know where you skied, do not select the mountain or route that is a secret.
6. Then enter your uphill and downhill vertical in feet. Rough estimates are okay if you aren't 100% sure, this is just for fun!
7. Give a description if you want. This is optional, but for those of us with terrible memories, it helps to keep a record of your days. Was the snow good? How was the weather? Was the uphill track in good shape? Who did you go with? Any avy observations? Anything unique or memorable about the day?
8. You can also link to your blog or forum post.
9. You can add a youtube link, this is optional.
10. You can also add photos up to 8 megabytes.
11. Once everything looks good, click submit and you are good to go!
