PRODUCT SUMMARY

THE GOOD
If you are actually interested in rescuing your ski partner from an avalanche, a metal blade (such as the Dakine T-Handle Shovel) is a great place to start. If you also might use your shovel to build a kicker, a snow cave or conduct snow stability tests, the T-Handle shovel is lightweight, medium sized and won't break your back.

The T-handle also has an extendable shaft for ease of shoveling.

THE BAD
The shaft is definitely slippery to hold with gloves. You might want to add some grip tape to it.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Dakine T-Handle Shovel is a good choice for those looking for a medium size shovel that can handle all types of snow and ice.

This shovel is actually made by Voile (in partnership with Dakine)... It's a great choice. Possibly stronger, although not as lightweight as the Black Diamond shovels.

I would much rather carry a little extra weight and have the solid metal of the dakine/voile shovel.
