THE GOOD
The GoPro Hero Wide Head Cam is lightweight easy to use, durable and versatile. It is completely waterproof, offers 170 degree lens angle, a plethora of ways to mount it, and produces high quality movies. It is by far the best head cam available.
THE BAD
My only complaints are small. When you press on or off or record it makes a little beeping noise to tell you that you have indeed pressed the button. This is real handy when the cam is on your head as you can;t really see what you are doing. However the beep is really faint, and I would like it a lot louder. The problem is that the camera is inside a waterproof casing that helps mute the beeping.
The battery life is not good. Lithium batteries help, but there is just a lot of energy being used to achieve the results that this cam produces.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The GoPro Hero Wide Head Cam is a great head cam for not only backcountry skiing but all action sports that require you to brag to your friends on how awesome you are at doing things:) It saves the movies in avi format which is a great open source format and will work on both Mac and PC platforms.
