THE GOOD
Although I pay very little attention to fashion, I guess there is are certain things that cross the line for me. You'll never see me skiing in jeans, a starter jacket and a balaclava unless it's Gaper Fools Day. So when I received this Buff Headwear as a gift from a friend, I tried as best I could to fake a little gratitude.
HOWEVER, a few days later, I was heading out skiing and the weather was particularly nasty, and I was beckoned to grab the Buff, putting it in my pocket for emergency use. Sure enough, as the wind ripped across the landscape, I could feel the first stages of frost bite on my cheeks and I decided to give the Buff a chance.
Long story short, the Buff Cyclone is now a staple part of my ski gear attire. I wear it proudly and brag that:
1. I can breath easily through the soft polyester material when the buff is covering my face
2. It protects my skin so that I won't look like a Gorilla at age 35
3. It's the perfect liner to go under my helmet.
4. I really do wear it in different ways, depending on the conditions
THE BAD
1. It's a little too bulky and when I wear it as a neck gaiter I feel trapped.
2. This is not a product for everyday skiing- I would only wear it when it's super windy and cold outside.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
If you are out playing in the snow on super cold and windy days (below zero and 15+ mph winds), I would highly recommend purchasing the Buff Cyclone. If you just want a versatile neck gaiter/face cover/balaclava/beannie, then wait until next fall- Buff is releasing a Merino wool style that is ultra soft, comfortable, less bulky and really cute.
Watch out though- this European company has an interesting perpective on style and you may have to sort through ridiculous patterns to find one that you'll like.
