THE GOOD
We're currently putting together a holiday gift list for backcountry skiers and decided that this product merited an article all on it's own. If you know a skier who seems to be constantly cold, Therm-ic boot heaters are the best Christmas gift that you could possible give them! I can honestly say that boot heaters have changed my life. They allow my feet to stay comfortably warm throughout an entire day of skiing. More importantly, they allow me to enjoy crowdless powder on the really cold days (-20 and below) without worrying about frostbite!
THE BAD
On one of those really cold days, these boot heaters only work if on the high setting. There is no way that the temperature in my boot comes even close to 158 degrees, and I'm lucky if the heat lasts for half of the day.
It's also kindof a pain to remember to recharge the batteries every night and it sucks big time if you forget.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Therm-ic boot heaters are an amazing product! I've heard from a couple ski techies that they are far superior to Hot-tronics, but I would love to do a side by side test to see what I think.
There are several different models available, and generally you get what you pay for. This Burton model is a good entry-level product. However, if you are really serious about keeping your feet warm, go to a Surefoot store and invest in the ultra high-end model.

| MITTEN TEST | 2/5, The level adjustment is very hard to grab. |
|---|---|
| DURABILITY | 3/5, I had several pieces break within the first year. |
| HEAT DURATION | 2/5, You have to conserve power on a cold day, sacrificing foot warmth. |
| HEAT TEMP | 4/5, At moderate temps the high level will burn your feet. At super cold temps you can't tell they are on except that your feet don't get frostbite. |
| WARRANTY | 4/5, Therm-ic was great about replacing and fixing problems in a timely manner. However, the warranty only lasts for 1 year. |
