Dakine Liteweight Baselayer Pant color Sage

As an avid backcountry skier, I have owned at least 50 different pairs of baselayer pants. During winter 2008, I tested the Dakine Liteweight Pant, which are now officially my 51st pair of baselayer pants. Overall, I like them and wore them quite often this winter. Moreover, as lightweight pants, I have continued to wear them for various activities throughout the Spring, and I'm sure they will have their place on cool summer nights.

Here is my review:

First Overall Reactions:
You can't help but notice how bright these pants are. But for a baselayer, it's kinda fun! I would not have picked these out at a store, because I like to stay away from elastic wastebands. However, when I tried them on, they were surprisingly comfortable! After wearing them for two full days straight, my belly did NOT have an indentation from the elastic. I was impressed enough to wear them often throughout the past several months.
Fit:
5'6", 125 lbs- size Medium fit me pretty well. On the one hang, they poof out a little around the front of my hips. On the other hand, I do like how they fit somewhat tightly around my calves so that the material doesn't bunch up under my ski boots. They also are a nice length (not too long), so there is no bunching problem.
Things I Like: 1) Silky soft material feels good against my skin.
2) Perfect for a warm ski day (15-30 degrees). They kept me warm on the lift, but wicked away moisture as I hiked up backcountry ski hills.
3) Fit nicely under my ski boots.
4) These pants don't bunch, sag or squeeze- they are truly very comfortable.
5) AEGIS microbe shield and an anti-bacterial fabric treatment keeps these pants smelling good even though I never wash my ski clothes. It really seems to work!

Things that I would change:
1) Elastic: Although the elastic wasn't a problem on these pants, I still would prefer to have smooth material around the waist so that it feels good even with 4 other layers over it.
2) Bunchiness around hips
Comments:I was really surprised how much I liked these pants, and after wearing them for several months now I would definitely recommend them to a friend.
