Ah Yeah! Spring skiing has finally hit the Tetons like Amy Winehouse.
With horridly unaccurate weather forecasting the past week, I found myself frustrated
at missing blue bird days. Finally, towards the end of the week I just decided
to suck up the early morning wake up and hope for the best.
Skiing in Hanging Canyon Video.
Due to all the warming most fun spring lines have tons of avalanche debris from afternoon releases. So finding something to ski can be more challenging than understanding how it has taken more than 15 years for the new Guns and Roses album to be released.
With the Grand Teton National Park road open, we headed to String Lake and up to Hanging Canyon to ski the Jaw.
It started out as a cold, cloud covered day and we wondered if the snow would ever soften up. But as we headed to the base of the Jaw, the clouds broke and the sun was scorching.
Worried about the rapid rise in temp, we decided to boot up a short couloir instead, and begin our descent.
The snow was perfect corn all the way to the parking lot! With temps rising near 70 this week, its going to be some real early morning assaults!
