About SkiingtheBackcountry.com
The concept of Skiing the Backcountry.com is to
create an online resource and community that is user friendly,
organized and will be archived for years to come! Our goal is to
provide a web portal that delivers useful information and builds community.
We
want to make backcountry skiing more accessible to everyone, by
providing relevant and appropriate information to skiers at all levels.
Who the Heck Are We?
Skiing
the Backcountry.com is all about YOU. It's not a blog promoting one
person's athletic feats. It's not a forum full of mindless chatter.
It's a platform for community that allows YOU to share information,
learn from others, make connections & keep the stoke going even while you're sitting at a computer.
Whether you are into bagging
first
descents off the gnarliest of all peaks or sledding down your local
town hill, we are all united by our common goal of having fun in the
snow and not taking ourselves too seriously.
Any success this site may have we will give a portion back to
serving the community through donating to non-profits such as avalanche
centers, search and rescue, animal shelters, community-building
programs, etc. In the past we have supported Big City Mountaineers,
Search and Rescue, Allison Gannett's Save our Snow, Kina Pickett's
Greenscool, and more.
This year, our focus is on encouraging donations of warm gear to
local homeless shelters. We also will be raising money for
one of our
writers who was injured in a mountain biking accident.
