PRODUCT SUMMARY
By Swiss Miss

THE GOOD
LIGHTWEIGHT: True to Dynafit's light and fast standards, this boot is one of the lightest women's 4-buckle AT boots on the market.

QUICKSTEP: Dynafit also added Quick-step inserts to the toe, making it that much easier to get into the toe-piece of their bindings because of the little grooves that guide the pins into the holes.

PRICE: The boot also retails for less than $600, making it one of the more affordable 4-buckle boots on the market.

DURABILITY: I have approximately 30 days on these and they have held up well so far.

THE BAD
LINER QUALITY: The thermo-formable liners that come with these are not up to par with those from other companies. They are thinner and higher volume and after being molded the area around the calf warped and became too wide for my average-sized calves (this could possibly be avoided by using a tube-style oven instead of a conventional older-style boot oven).

DOWNHILL PERFORMANCE: For a 4-buckle boot, they don't seem to deliver the power that I would expect for the extra weight; the cuff is actually shorter than my 3-buckle telemark boots and I have to crank them down to the last notch until I cut off circulation to get the responsiveness I need.

FIT (for me): I have a medium-width, low-volume foot, in addition to very large bone spurs on the back of my heels (a whole other fit issue altogether which is a problem in any boot). To take up some volume I used the extra shims provided by Dynafit under my Superfeet insoles. This worked until I started to lose toenails and finally figured out that I needed to cut them off halfway to allow more room for my toes.

POWERSTRAP: The power-strap velcro is too short and the sticky stuff wears off the fleece on the inside of my soft-shell pants.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
If you have a medium to high-volume foot and larger than average calves, these boots may be a good fit for you. Although they are fairly light for a 4-buckle AT boot, you may want to wait until next year when Dynafit comes out with a significantly lighter Women's Zzero 4PX version (also an increase in price).
