THE GOOD
Quality
Although these pants are bit spendy, they're totally Gore-Tex and are built to get after it! Fully waterproofed with trim fit adjusters for a custom leg fit and articulated knees to prevent restriction, these pants are worth the dough. They also have full side zips and are relatively thin, so as a shell they can be used year round and get the use they deserve.
Vents
The full side zip vents are key. Much of the weather we experienced in Antarctica was relatively mild compared to our worst-case-scenarios. I found some aspects we were skinning/climbing/skiing felt like I was on a spring mission in the Sierra and the vents were perfect to dump as much heat as I needed.
THE BAD
Suspenders
There are no belt loops and only suspenders to keep these pants up. While I know some people prefer this, I still enjoy having the choice of using my own belt.
Warmth
Being a shell pant, there is no added insulation in these pants mandating a warm, solid underlayer for cool days on the hill. For spring conditions these are dialed, but for those extra frosty days you'll definitely want a warm pair of long underwear.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Marmut Exum pants are the only pants you'll ever need in the never-ending list of gear for a backcountry skier. As I mentioned, they will not fully insulate you on super cold days, but with the addition of a warm underlayer that problem vanishes.
The full zips, waterproofing, and bomber construction makes these pants worth every penny. They're comfortable, flexible, and will perform well whether you're doing laps in the backcountry, of going on a multi-day expedition.

I've worn these pants for a full season and they are still holding up great. Very waterproof.

Good to hear Rob. It's always cool to test new gear, but one of my main indicators for a solid piece of equipment is how long it lasts. I've yet to make it a whole season without at least putting a hole in my pants from a stray crampon kick so I'm hoping maybe these pants will be the ones.
